My List Of Productivity Tools – Part 1

July 25th, 2009
This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Productivity

If you are doing any work on the internet at all, you would know that how much distractions there could be if one is not discipline. Even if you are just casual computer user, these ideas will help you to save time and be more productive.

Here, am going to list down some ideas and tools that help to to stay focus (definitely more could be done in this area):

*   Use Gmail (it will help to you search for emails that have are well in the past) and if you have more than one gmail account, it allows you to forward any incoming email to your main gmail account (while keeping one copy in that gmail account, depending on your choice. I know this would be very obvious to many gmail users, nonetheless, I cannot help not to mention it, have you converted your email service provider?

I also use Google Docs – which allows me to access my documents regardless of where I am as they are sitting in the cyberspace with Google. Google also has great analytic tools like split testing and multivariate tests which I found out recently, but I digress.

(note: I declare that as of this writing, I do not own any Google stocks and has no personal interest in the  company’s financial performance.)

*   Get Google Desktop – I personally find the ‘To Do’ list and note pad extremely useful. I usually list up to 3 items in my ‘To Do’ list and make sure that I finished each task before moving on to the next.  By keeping the task at hand right in front (or rather, in this case, on the right of my computer screen), it helps me to accomplish the task that I plan to accomplished.

*   Roboform – I personally think that this is a god sent product. Ok, Roboform basically helps you to remember to key in all your passwords so that you do not have to remember them. If you joined many websites for various applications or membership – this is a ‘Must Have’ tool.

*   CloseWin – I just have to mention this nifty little tool call CloseWin – which could be downloaded free  from the internet, just google it. How CloseWin helps me is that with a few click (no more than 3, usually) away, I could close a myriad of opened browsers, software and applications. All within almost seconds, except that for certain editing software like Frontpage, note pad etc, which you have to decide and reply whether to ‘save’ or just exit. I don’t think I will live without it as long as I am on Windows platform for a long time to come (am exploring Apple computers… but that is another story).

Well, that’s it for now. I plan to update this post on a regular basis both as a reminder to myself and for you, the visitor ;) .

Good day.
