How To Input Chinese Characters Using Open Office Writer?

March 15th, 2009

Want to create Chinese characters using your Open Office Writer?

I was dabbling with it a little and lo and behold, realized I was typing Chinese characters in OOW soon enough.

Okay, here’s how you go about doing it:

* Go to Control Panel -> Select “Clock, language and Region” -> Select “Regional and Language Option” -> Select “Keyboard and Languages” -> Select “Change Keyboards”-> Select “Advance Key Settings”

In “Advance Key Settings”, take note of the key sequence for toggling-on for using Chinese Characters (eg. Ctrl + “C”, or whatever that is already being preset). Now, open your Open Office (no pun intended ;) ), and toggle using the key sequence that you have taken note of earlier – and, you are ready to roll. Have fun.

Note: Due to different computer configurations, there maybe some variations to the above steps, and you may have to tweak around a little to get it right. Enjoy!
